Relevance

Since its establishment in the 1980s, oral implantology has been one of the fastest growing specialties in dentistry.  
It is a branch of dentistry that deals with the replacement of missing or lost teeth by means of implants as anchoring elements in the jawbone and their prosthetic restoration. Diagnostics, therapy planning, surgical placement of implants, bone and soft tissue regeneration, reconstructive therapy and subsequent maintenance therapy all play a decisive role in successful treatment outcomes. 
Today, implant dentistry plays a significant role in the treatment of partially and fully edentulous patients. In the last 30 years, research and clinical practice in the field of oral implantology have significantly expanded therapeutic options. 
Oral implantology represents an interdisciplinary field with intensive connections to other dental specialties.

Objective

Upon completing the part-time postgraduate course in oral implantology, graduates gain both theoretical and hands-on expertise in implantology, reconstructive dentistry and associated disciplines. They enhance their theoretical understanding through literature seminars and lectures, and they can put this knowledge into practice during workshops and when addressing cases from their own dental practice. This three-year part-time program culminates with the submission of a final thesis.

Target Group 

Dentists who have completed their studies and have at least 2-3 years of professional experience and who wish to gain in-depth further training in the field of oral implantology.

Topics

Each year, the program delves into distinct topics within implantology, periodontology, reconstructive dentistry, and related disciplines. It offers in-depth exploration during annual one-week sessions in spring and autumn and monthly online tutoring. This structured approach ensures a seamless transition into each successive year, fostering a robust platform for enriching professional interactions among participants across different stages of the program.
